About Dr. Whitfield

The Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics Center

Dr. Peter Whitfield joined the SM&OC division of Southeastern Orthopedic Specialists in 1980. He is a graduate of the George Washington University School of Medicine after which he completed a 6 year residency. The last 4 years were spent at the Duke University Medical Center. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and was certified in 1981.  He has staff privileges at the Moses Cone Health System (Wesley Long and Moses Cone) and the Health South Surgical Center.    Dr. Whitfield resides in Greensboro with his wife of 31 years. His two older sons are presently pursuing graduate degrees; his youngest attends the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
